Diana Mckinnon LSDC Much of the textile work is inspired by the English Countryside and the variations that the changing seasons bring. ‘Light and colour are so important when choosing a scene to re-create.’ This is achieved through layering fabric and threads, using a sewing machine in place of a painter’s brush and pulling colour from a palette of threads. I taught in a primary school for many years and while teaching I studied City & Guilds, Creative Embroidery at Adult Education. An exciting world of experimental embroidery opened up to me and my love of working with different media was born. Since leaving teaching I have joined the Society of Designer Crafts Guild and exhibit in their London exhibitions.
