Margaret Heath

Margaret studied at Wimbledon School of Art from 1960-64, graduating with the National Diploma in Design (NDD) in illustration. She worked as a freelance illustrator and married former fellow art student Trevor Heath in 1966. From 1970 onwards, raising a family took priority. She was finally able to return to her career as an illustrator, working for advertising agencies and Oxford University Press, but found it increasingly unfulfilling. She started painting in water colours and quickly became a full-time painter, exhibiting and selling work in London and Southeast England. She exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI). She soon found her favourite subjects were marine, and was voted a member of the RSMA in 2006. She is currently their Hon. Secretary. Her seaside paintings are much in demand as posters and canvas prints as well as on greeting cards, mugs and calendars, and have been sold as art cards by Ikea worldwide. She has done painting demonstrations for Artist and Illustrators Magazine and for 'Painting Light and Shade', published by Quarto books.
