Rebecca Vincent - Artist Printmaker I am a self-employed artist with 20 years experience, specialising in the discipline of printmaking. I earned my BA in Fine Art from the Ruskin School of Art (the art department of Oxford University) and my Master of Fine Art from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. I originally hail from Clitheroe in Lancashire but I've made my home in Newcastle, where I live with my husband and two children. In 2004 I established Horsley Printmakers, my studio in Northumberland where I led a programme of adult courses in printmaking and related subjects. These days, I focus on my own artistic practise, creating new pieces and developing my range of cards and prints. In October 2014 my work appeared in a 5-page feature in Country Living magazine. The amazing colour and mark-making possibilities of etching and monotype have fascinated me for many years as I've experimented and innovated with them. I've developed a style and techniques that are completely unique. My monotypes combine a multi-coloured, layered approach with powerful mark-making and bold patterns that depict the landscape imaginatively. I take inspiration from the local landscape but then create a strong, rhythmic, idealized composition that expresses a more abstract idea. The etchings follow a similar creative development but are much more detailed and intensely worked.
