I have been painting and drawing all my life - it's what I do and who I am.
My mother was an artist and used to draw beautiful and elegant images that I could colour in at bedtime - even now I love a new pack of felt-tip pens!
I was born in Nottingham and my earliest artistic memories are of throwing paint, Jackson Pollock-style, at a large piece of paper in infant's school, over and over again. Over the years, I have worked in various businesses whilst always keeping art as my focus. Following the birth of my 2 children, I retrained as a teacher, eager to pass on my knowledge and joy in painting, teaching ages from 6 to 96. I relocated to Devon in 2009 to begin a new chapter of my life in this beautiful part of the country. At present I am absorbed in the use of acrylic inks for their brilliant colour and incredible fluidity helping to create truly individual pieces of artwork that reflect how I feel about beauty and life. I am also experimenting with lino-cuts, resin and perspex. I'm an artist who loves to work with vibrant colour, strong shapes and multi-layered images.
I have exhibited and sold many pieces of art over the last 2 decades - my work resides in private collections all over the world including Canada, Singapore, USA and of course the UK.
I continue to push my work in different directions, trying new methods and ideas whilst always remaining inspired by the natural world and attempting to express that in a unique and personal way.
I am also co-founder of DevonArtPop, a group of collaborating artists that work together on exhibitions across Devon in an eclectic mix of pop-up galleries.
